The Confidence to Perform Comes from Within

Confidence is “The state of mind characterized by one’s reliance on himself or his circumstances; a feeling of self-sufficiency; such assurance as leads to a feeling of security; self-reliance;” – Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary.

Confidence is a powerful catalyst for self-improvement and personal development. It fuels your journey, empowering you to take bold steps toward your goals. Embrace it fully, and watch how it transforms challenges into opportunities for growth.

Without confidence, one cannot be expected to achieve much or overcome the impossible. The people who go on to be successful are those who exude confidence in their lives.

It is what fuels us to go out and do more even when the odds are against us; When the chips are down.

When you are full of confidence you are fired up and charged for success. You have in you the unwavering belief that what you are doing will succeed.

The amount of confidence you have will surely determine how far you will go with a task. This will also have an effect on how far you are willing to go in your life.

If you are lacking in confidence you will definitely give up the first time you hit a huddle. You will have many excuses just to find a way of not continuing.

Where Does Self-assurance Come From?

You may be wondering and asking, how and where do people get the confidence they exude?

Well, in as much as external stimuli has an influence on us, the final decision comes from inside. It is what you build inside that overflows outside.

Everything you exhibit on the outside is a reflection of who you really are inside. If you are negative that’s just what you are, so be careful of what your mind feeds on.

You cannot give what you do not have. Your character and behaviour are a direct reflection of who you are. Look, you cannot be peaceful if you do not have peace in your heart.

Everything you are comes from the inside. Your confidence comes from the inside. It is what you have inside of you that will reflect on the outside.

Take a seed, for example,  as small as it is, it grows into a big tree utilising resources from within.

Of course, it is influenced by the conditions outside but all the growth comes from within itself. The growth does not come from outside. You can imagine the energy needed for it to shoot through the soil.

Exactly the same with you and me. We are influenced by the conditions we face every day. But these do not have a final say on the outcome of our lives. We decide what course our lives will take by the choices and decisions we make.

We make the final decisions and choices despite what we are confronted with. These decisions come from within. In other words, they are personal decisions. They are of your own volition.

I always say you have a choice no matter what you are faced with. I do not believe in the saying that I had no choice, there is always one.

How to Create and Maintain Confidence

To move forward in life there is need to create and maintain a strong sense of self-belief. This is what will make and keep you pushing forward. Without it, you do not expect to achieve much with your life.

But just how easy is it to generate and keep self-belief in the midst of life’s challenges?

Well, it’s not easy for me. There are times when I feel like giving up. Sometimes It seems like I’m just shooting in the air.

Here are a few things I do to help keep my confidence as high as possible:-

  • Set small achievable goals – this helps to keep me motivated when the targets are achieved. For some reason it makes me look forward to the next challenge. The smaller the target the easier it is to achieve. It is the small things that make the bigger ones when added up.
  • Look at the bigger picture – what do you want to achieve with your life? A reminder of what you want for your life should be big enough to generate enough motivation and confidence to help push you forward. If you want to achieve more you have no choice but to keep your confidence high.
  • Appreciate your small achievements – appreciating what you have conquered just gives you that feeling of being a superman. It just gives you the adrenaline to take on the next challenge. That is why I find it better to break down my goals into smaller tasks that are realistic and can easily be achievable.
  • Be optimistic and expectant – being optimistic and expectant usually produces positive results. When you are expectant you attract positive vibes.

Do not allow yourself to be in toxic relationships; they can be detrimental and sometimes fatal. If you in one find a way to sort it out.

Make it a point that you take an audit of your current relationships, pay attention to those that add more value to your life.
